Health Tips with Val

by Michelle Cole on Mar 09, 2021

I’m Val, my friend Michelle asked me to write an article for the newsletter not because I am an expert in the field of health, but I am living proof of how you can be vibrant and in excellent health in your 70’s and beyond.

My whole outlook on health is more than just the physical and is based on three key principles.  Your first responsibility in Life is to take care of yourself Mentally, Physically and Spiritually.  Every aspect of life reveals itself when you have the three in balance.

  1. Mentally- where is your consciousness?

Your mind/conscious is the Central Processing Unit of your body.  Whatever you are fill your mind with,  your body will respond to your mind’s command.  If you live in stress, fear, hate, you will bring dis-ease to the body.  When you think Positive, healing, love thoughts, your body will respond in kind.

  1. Physically - Your body is like a Masarati.

You need to keep it fine-tuned so it won’t break down.  You really are what you eat, so really paying attention to your diet is essential.   Organic non-GMO food, limited sugar, and everything in moderation.   Exercise is also vital.  I practice yoga, Tai Qi, Qi Gong, and walk a couple of miles daily.

Supplements are also important.  I do not take any Pharma drugs because once you get on one drug the side effects seem to be worse and create another ailment.   I research and try different Herbal remedies because I feel Mother nature is always the best way to go.   Here are two important supplements that I take daily, that I feel have done wonders for my body, Arthritis and pain:

  • Turmeric/Curcumin - An Anti-inflammatory for pain.  I have a superfood Turmeric Creamer that I put in my coffee every day and an extra Turmeric vitamin.
  • Glucosamine/Chondroitin in tablet form.

They both keep me energized, pain free, and lubricates the bone joints.

  1. Spiritually - Nurture a personal relationship with Your Maker daily.
I am a member of the Self Realization Center which is a non- denominational congregation.  My Faith has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life and has brought me comfort and peace.  I suggest you find whatever eases your soul and gives you peace, and I believe it will also give you longevity.
